George Washington University’s College of Professional Studies Joins Regional Partners to Launch “Talent Capital” for Displaced Federal Workers

September 30, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 30, 2025) — The George Washington University College of Professional Studies (CPS) is proud to join the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) and regional leaders to officially launch Talent Capital, a first-of-its-kind workforce resource designed to support displaced federal workers across the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia.

Housed at COG and supported by a broad civic alliance, Talent Capital modernizes the region’s workforce infrastructure by pairing AI-driven job matching with human-centered service delivery. TalentCapital.AI serves as the region’s front door to jobs, curated training, career events, and workforce resources across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Unlike static job boards or directories, it is powered by BuildWithin’s agentic AI system; technology that reasons, adapts, and takes initiative on behalf of each user. Job matches are personalized not just to past roles but also to transferable skills, career stage, aspirations, and location, while training and credentials are surfaced to strengthen transition opportunities.

Through our Center for Excellence in Public Leadership, the College of Professional Studies is proud to invest in the region’s workforce by providing 36 hours of complimentary executive coaching and offering up to 50% off professional development courses. We are also working to make graduate education more accessible, with 20% tuition savings on programs in both CPS and the School of Business. And, through our GW RevU platform, we are opening doors even wider—offering free sampler courses so professionals can explore their options and chart the next steps in their educational journey.

“This moment represents a major milestone for our region and the thousands of public servants who have dedicated their careers to strengthening our democracy,” said Liesl Riddle, Dean of the College of Professional Studies. “With Talent Capital, we are combining innovation and compassion—bringing together cutting-edge tools and hands-on support—so workers can chart clear, confident next steps.”

“At GW School of Business, we are honored to serve as ongoing partners in helping displaced workers find opportunity, pursue education, and remain part of the fabric of our thriving region,” said Sevin Yeltekin, Dean of the GW School of Business.

The initiative reflects the strategic guidance of regional stakeholders and the visionary leadership of DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, DC Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development Nina Albert, DC Deputy Mayor for Education Paul Kihn,  DC Secretary of Labor Dr. Unique Morris-Hughes, VA Secretary of Labor Bryan Slater, MD Secretary of Labor Portia Wu, and other leaders By uniting government, business, higher education, and nonprofit partners, the launch marks the first step of a broader regional civic alliance focused on transforming workforce development and accelerating re-employment for skilled professionals affected by federal transitions.

As part of this commitment, GW’s School of Business will continue to play an essential role in advancing economic resilience by offering executive education, professional development, and research expertise that strengthen the region’s workforce and employer networks.
