Mr. Dunham joined the FBI as a special agent in 2002 and was initially assigned to the Chicago Field Office.  Between 2002 and 2017, he served in a variety of national security and criminal investigative assignments in the Chicago, Illinois and Albany, NY Field Offices, as well as FBI Headquarters.  

Mr. Dunham entered the Senior Executive Service in 2017 as the Section Chief of the FBI’s Leadership Development Program. Mr. Dunham moved to the Washington Field Office (WFO) in 2018, where he first served as the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Counterintelligence Division. In 2019, he was appointed the SAC of WFO’s Criminal Division. He was promoted in 2020 to Deputy Assistant Director of the Criminal Investigative Division at Headquarters, where he led programs dealing with transnational organized crime, violent crime, and operational support.  In 2021 he was named the Assistant Director of the FBI’s Training Division, serving as the Chief Learning Officer for the agency and oversaw the day-to-day operations of the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia.   In 2023, he was promoted to Executive Assistant Director of the FBI’s Human Resources Branch, overseeing the FBI’s Human Resources, Security and Training Divisions.  

Mr. Dunham retired from the FBI in February of 2025.  Prior to joining the FBI, Mr. Dunham practiced law in Richmond, Virginia. He earned a degree in accounting from the University of Richmond; Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degrees from the College of William and Mary; and a master’s degree in security studies from Georgetown University.
