Janet K. Stormes retired from the U.S. Senate in December 2016 after over 23 years in the federal government. Her federal government career was in budgeting and finance and included working on the Senate Committee on Appropriations. for over 7 years. She had also been the Budget Director and the Chief Financial Officer (Senior Executive Service) at the Broadcasting Board of Governors and Deputy CFO at Radio Free Asia.

Her earlier experience included work as a budget analyst and management analyst at the Department of Justice, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, and the U.S. Information Agency. She also worked for a year on the House Appropriations Committee, Commerce-Justice State subcommittee.

Currently, Janet is teaching workshops on federal budget and budgeting as a strategic tool for George Washington University Center for Excellence in Public Leadership’s Senior Leader Program. Janet has also taught creativity and budgeting workshops in Myanmar and creativity in public sector workshops at the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Policy and Governance.

Janet co-founded the Choreographers Collaboration Project, a modern dance company in Alexandria, VA, and continues to choreograph, perform, and teach dance.
