David H. Huntoon

David Huntoon is the President of D2H Leadership Consulting LLC, a leader development consulting service, and Member of the Spectrum Group in Alexandria, Virginia.  

David was a senior leader in the US Army who completed his career as the Superintendent of the US Military Academy at West Point, 2010-2013, in the rank of Lieutenant General.  During his leadership of West Point it was ranked as one of the top five public colleges in America by Forbes and US News and World Report. Previously David was the Director of the US Army Staff in the Pentagon, and the Commandant of the US Army War College.  

Other senior strategic leadership positions included Director of Strategy, Plans and Policy for the US Army; Deputy Commander of the US Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; Assistant Division Commander of the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas; and Executive Officer to the Chief of Staff of the US Army. As an infantry officer, David served in a series of command and staff assignments in the United States, Germany, Korea, and the Middle East.  He has a BS in Engineering from the US Military Academy at West Point, an MA in Government from Georgetown University, an MMAS from the US Army Command and General Staff College, and completed a National Security Fellowship at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University.  

David serves as a strategic coach and consultant to leader development and human resource programs for the Department of Defense and in the private sector.  He guest lectures on leadership and national security strategy at George Washington University and the Brookings Institution, and at many other public and private sector professional organizations worldwide.  Keynote speech audiences have included the Business School of Peking University, the Royal Jordanian War College, the American Society of Civil Engineers, The Registry of College and University Presidents, and the senior leadership of the US Secret Service.  He has written for and conducted interviews with major international media networks, including Bloomberg, MSNBC, Fox News, CEO Magazine, and the Atlantic Council.
