Kari Moe

Dr. Kari Moe’s outstanding public service career is distinguished by three decades in senior management positions in government. She played a central role in the accomplishments of three noted leaders in American politics, including Mayor Harold Washington of Chicago, US Senator Paul Wellstone, and Congressman Keith Ellison. She served in various positions including Deputy Commissioner for Economic Development, Deputy Mayor for Community Services and Chief of Staff.  Prior to her roles as a senior leader, Dr. Moe worked as a teacher and social worker in community-based organizations serving low-income youth in Chicago.

Dr. Moe served as the Director of Leadership Training at the GWU Center for Excellence in Public Leadership (CEPL-GW) from 2000-06. In this role she designed and taught courses for emerging, mid-level and senior leaders in local and federal government. She taught Public Policy Analysis, Strategic Planning, Project Management, Leadership for Change and Public Policy Implementation. She has recently led training in Congressional Relations for federal senior managers.

For several years Dr. Moe has been a featured speaker at many universities and executive development programs. Among others, Dr. Moe has spoken at Carleton College, Georgetown University, Northwestern University, Cornell University, the George Washington University, the Gephardt Institute at the Washington University in St. Louis and the Brookings Institute Program for Congressional Affairs.

Dr. Moe has coached and mentored dozens of young professionals who now lead organizations throughout the country.
